Lars Tunbjörk (1956-2015) is one of Sweden’s most internationally renowned photographers. His photographs reveal warmth and humor and a deep fascination for people’s loneliness and longing for meaning. With his critical eye and sense of the absurd, Tunbjörk created almost surrealistic photo art that captured audiences worldwide.
Please join us for the grand opening of the retrospective A View From the Side. The exhibition includes works from Tunbjörk’s four series Landet utom sig, Office, Home, and Winter. For the grand opening event, Kathy Ryan, director of photography for The New York Times Magazine, will give a presentation about her collaboration and friendship with Tunbjörk, offering insights into Tunbjörk’s popularity in the United States.
The exhibition is produced by the Embassy of Sweden in Washington, D.C. in collaboration with the Lars Tunbjörk Foundation.
